The idea

The window has always been the room’s brightest surface. Until sunset.

For as long as electric light has been in homes, the window has been one-directional. Daylight enters, evening drains it, and the burden of ambient light shifts to the ceiling. The window becomes the darkest rectangle in the room and everything you put on the ceiling has to compensate for it.

The vertical light plane is the alternative: ambient light that originates at the wall the room already looks toward, not from a fixture above the head. Daylight has always used this plane. LiteLüvr keeps it lit after sunset.

How LiteLüvr creates the plane

Three layers, one calm, even glow.

The vertical light plane is a concept. What makes it real is the mechanism, and the mechanism lives inside a 3.5-inch plantation-style louver.

The source

LED arrays are engineered into each louver, hidden from view, warm on the eye and cool to the touch.

The diffusion

A dedicated diffusion layer softens the source at the louver, so the light leaves as a plane, not as a strip of visible LEDs.

The plane

The louver face itself becomes the light. The shutter reads as a glowing architectural surface, not as an applied fixture.

By day, the panels work as a full plantation shutter and privacy treatment. After sunset, the louvers wake as a warm, even field of light. The window stops being a dark rectangle and becomes a part of the room’s lighting plan.

Warm or bright, always dimmable

Two temperatures. One plane. Full range.

Color temperature is chosen at the time of order, matched to the room and the hour it will be used. Both temperatures are fully dimmable, controlled by touch on the shutter stile or through the LiteLüvr app for iOS and Android, including sunrise and sunset simulation.

The concept the plane is built on.

The vertical light plane is a design idea that predates its execution: interior lighting research has long shown that vertical surfaces in the field of view do more to shape a room’s brightness than horizontal ones. LiteLüvr is the first product built to bring that idea to the window itself.
