Frequently Asked Questions

The basics

What is LiteLüvr?

LiteLüvr® is a window-integrated lighting shutter system. Its plantation-style louvers are the light source — each one emits a soft, fully diffused glow — so the shutter works as a normal privacy treatment by day and becomes a warm architectural light at the window after dark.

How is it different from a regular plantation shutter?

Same wide 3.5″ louvers, same tilt-and-close operation, same look. The difference is inside every louver: an integrated LED array and a diffusion layer that lets the shutter glow evenly after dark. Nothing added, nothing applied.

How is it different from an LED strip in a window frame?

Strips are applied to a surface and read as a strip. LiteLüvr integrates the LEDs into the louvers themselves behind a diffusion layer, so what you see is a soft glowing plane of light — not a line of dots.

Who makes LiteLüvr?

LiteLüvr® is designed and manufactured by Radiant Blinds, LLC, a company based in Lubbock, Texas.

The light

What does the light look like?

Soft, even, and shadow-free — a diffused wash rather than a point source. Because the light passes through a diffusion layer at the source, there are no hotspots, and no visible LED dots.

What color is the light?

Two options: Warm White (~3200K) — an incandescent warmth good for bedrooms, dining rooms, and living rooms; and Bright White (~4000K) — a crisp paper-white glow good for kitchens, offices, and contemporary spaces. Choose per room.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes. LiteLüvr dims smoothly from a whisper of light up to full output, per panel, window, room, or whole home.

Does it get hot?

No. Low-voltage LEDs stay cool to the touch. Safe near bedding, curtains, kids, and pets — and it won’t warm the room the way an incandescent or halogen fixture would.

How bright is it?

Bright enough to be the ambient layer of the room, without competing with task or accent light. Because the light originates at the window plane rather than the ceiling, a lower total lumen count reads as more atmosphere than an equivalent overhead fixture would.

Is it energy efficient?

Very. LiteLüvr uses low-voltage LEDs — a fraction of the wattage of traditional overhead lighting for the same sense of ambient warmth.

Controls

How do I turn it on?

A discreet touch control lives on the shutter stile — the hinged side of each panel — so anyone in the room can turn the light on and dim it without opening an app.

Is there an app?

Yes. The LiteLüvr app controls panels, windows, rooms, or the whole home over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, with scenes, schedules, and sunrise / sunset modes.

Does the louver tilt control the light?

No. Louver tilt only adjusts external daylight. The light itself is always controlled from the stile or the app.

Does it work with smart-home systems (Alexa, Google, HomeKit)?

LiteLüvr is controlled through its own app today, with scene, schedule, and whole-home control built in. Broader smart-home integrations are on the roadmap — ask your dealer about current compatibility for your project.

Installation

How is it installed?

Panels mount to the window opening the same way a standard plantation shutter does. Each panel plugs in with one short cord — no visible power supply at the window. Your regional LiteLüvr dealer coordinates the details for your project.

Do I need to hire an electrician?

In most cases, no — the low-voltage plug-in approach avoids that overhead. Your dealer will confirm specifics for your rooms and windows.

Can it be retrofit into an existing home?

Yes. LiteLüvr fits standard window openings and installs like a plantation shutter, which makes it well-suited to retrofits — including condos and apartments where recessed ceiling changes aren’t possible.

What if I already have shutters?

LiteLüvr replaces existing shutters as the finished window treatment — it isn’t an add-on to another shutter. Your dealer can advise on removal and coordination.

Design & rooms

Does LiteLüvr replace my other lighting?

No. LiteLüvr adds an ambient layer at the window — it complements task and accent lighting rather than replacing them. Rooms that use it well still have reading lamps and task light where they’re needed.

Which rooms is it best for?

Bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, bathrooms, home offices, kitchens — anywhere the window is a visible surface after dark. Especially valuable in rooms where you want atmosphere without adding more fixtures.

Can I use it in a bedroom?

Yes — it’s one of the most-loved rooms for LiteLüvr. Warm White at a low level gives the room a gentle presence at night without the harshness of overhead light, and it dims all the way down for sleep. Sunrise and sunset modes are built in.

What sizes, colors, and finishes are available?

LiteLüvr comes in standard plantation-shutter proportions with 3.5″ louvers, in a neutral white finish designed to disappear into premium interiors. Your dealer will walk you through the finish options that suit your windows and scheme.

How does it look during the day?

Like a beautiful plantation shutter. The LEDs and diffusion layer are engineered into the louver — there are no visible dots, wires, or channels when the light is off.

Buying

What does it cost?

Cost depends on your windows, your project, and how you’re specifying it. The best next step is to request a showing — we’ll walk through what it looks like for your space and talk specifics from there.

Where can I see LiteLüvr in person?

The light really does have to be seen to be understood. Request a showing and we’ll arrange for you to experience LiteLüvr in person — at a partner showroom, a live project, or with a sample panel in-hand.

How long do the LEDs last?

Rated for 50,000 hours — roughly 15+ years at typical daily use.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Your dealer will walk you through the current warranty terms with your quote.

Do you have dealers in my area?

LiteLüvr works through a network of regional dealers in protected territories. Request a showing and we’ll route you to the right partner for your project.

I’m a designer / architect / hospitality group — is there a different track?
